Websites

Sites that bring in business.

Soluxain is a website design and development studio in San Diego, working with clients across the US. A brand new site, or a redesign of the one that is not working. Every page hand-coded and semantic, so search engines can read it and you are not paying rent on a page builder. We use AI to get design directions in front of you in days rather than weeks — then build it by hand. Some of these we have maintained for five years and counting.

Regulated retail · five years running

Southern California Gun

A San Diego firearms dealer in one of the most heavily regulated retail categories in the country, with inventory that turns over constantly and rules that change by legislative session.

The problem. Used stock changes weekly. California maintains a roster of which handguns may legally be sold, and it moves. A static brochure site goes stale in a month and a storefront platform cannot handle the compliance.

What we built. A hand-coded site with a used-gun inventory that carries its own last-updated date, a product catalogue organised by manufacturer, a new-shooter FAQ that answers the regulatory questions before the phone rings, and a newsletter pipeline for the bi-monthly deals.

Roy provided the original development as well as the ongoing maintenance and updates to our store website. Over the past five years he has proven to be knowledgeable and professional while addressing the needs of our company.

Chaparral Land Company

California’s largest residential land brokerage, operating since 1976, with more than four and a half billion dollars in closed transactions and an archive going back more than fifteen years.

The problem. Their credibility is the transaction history. Hundreds of deals, each with a location, lot count, buyer, seller, and close date. Dumped on a page that is an unreadable wall. Hidden behind a search box nobody uses, it may as well not exist.

What we built. Recent transactions surfaced as cards with photography up front, the full archive collapsed behind a year selector running from 2010 to today, and the firm’s service offering structured so a landowner and an institutional buyer each find their own path in. Testimonials from the CEOs of Lennar, KB Home, City Ventures, and Landsea sit where a first-time visitor will actually read them.

What website design and development includes

Website design, hand-coded and AI-explored

AI gets you three laid-out directions in an afternoon instead of three weeks of mockups. Once you pick one, it is hand-written semantic HTML and CSS — responsive by construction rather than by plugin, and fast on a phone on a bad connection, which is where most of your visitors are.

Quick to decide. Built to last.

Found by search

Per-page titles and descriptions, honest heading structure, alt text, and structured data. Organic search, not an ad budget.

The slow kind that keeps working.

Kept running

Content updates, new sections, seasonal changes, and the occasional emergency. Most of our site clients have been with us for years, which is the part that matters. A redesign of an existing site is the same engagement, started from your content instead of a blank page.

Maintenance, not abandonment.

The audit

The cheapest way to find out whether the problem is the interface, the workflow, or the assumption underneath both. Fixed scope, fixed price, no obligation to continue.

We walk what you have the way your users actually move through it, benchmark it against your competitors, and measure it against usability principles settled long before anyone called this a discipline. You get findings ranked by impact and effort, and a roadmap any development team can act on — ours or yours.

What you get
  • Heuristic review of the current experience
  • Competitive teardown of two to three rivals
  • Findings prioritized by impact and effort
  • A redesign roadmap you own outright

Common questions

How much does a website cost?
Most small-business sites land between a few thousand and the low five figures, depending on page count, whether content exists, and whether anything needs to connect to another system. A redesign of a working site usually costs less than a new build. You get a fixed number before any work starts.
How long does a website take?
Four to eight weeks for a typical small-business site, start to launch. The two things that stretch it are content and approvals — if copy and photography are ready, we move faster.
Do you work with businesses outside San Diego?
Yes. We are based in San Diego and have local clients going back years, but most of the work runs remotely and we take projects anywhere in the US.
Will I be able to update it myself?
Depends what you want. Most clients would rather send us changes than learn a system, so we keep maintenance as part of the relationship. If you want to edit it yourself, say so up front and we build for that.
Do you use WordPress?
No. Every site is hand-coded, which means no plugin tax, no monthly platform fee, no security patches to chase, and pages that load fast on a phone with a weak signal.

Greg K., Southern California Gun

I had a site that needed help and a very hard time generating business. Only took a few weeks after my redesign and my phones were blowing up.

Randall C., Century Raingutters

Roy has been very quick and affordable, not only delivering these two projects, but we use his company for ongoing website maintenance and updates. Very reasonable and dependable.

Graham W., land management and student housing
